1863-1902 CE - Disciple of Ramakrishna - ராமகிருஷ்ண பரமஹம்சரின் சீடர்
சுவாமி விவேகானந்தர் (1863-1902) ஒரு இந்திய துறவியும், தத்துவஞானியும், மத சீர்திருத்தவாதியும். ராமகிருஷ்ண பரமஹம்சரின் முக்கிய சீடர். 1893 சிகாகோ உலக மத மாநாட்டில் இந்து மதத்தை உலகுக்கு அறிமுகப்படுத்தினார்.
Born Narendranath Datta in Calcutta (1863), Swami Vivekananda became the foremost disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. He introduced Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world and is credited with raising interfaith awareness. He founded the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission in 1897.
சிகாகோ உலக மத மாநாட்டில் (1893) "அமெரிக்காவின் சகோதர சகோதரிகளே!" என்று தொடங்கிய வரவேற்புரையால் நிமிடங்கள் தொடர்ந்த கைதட்டல் கிடைத்தது. இந்த உரை இந்து மதத்தை உலக மேடையில் நிறுவியது.
The opening words "Sisters and Brothers of America" received 2 minutes of standing ovation. Vivekananda went on to speak about Hinduism's inclusive philosophy: "We believe not only in universal toleration, but we accept all religions as true." This speech is considered a landmark moment in world religious history.

Serve the poor as God - "The best worship of God is serving man." This teaching motivated social service as spiritual practice.
நவீன வேதாந்தம்
Vivekananda's version of Advaita that emphasizes both spiritual liberation AND social engagement - unlike the traditional purely renunciative interpretation.
நடைமுறை வேதாந்தம்
"Strength is Life, Weakness is Death." He translated abstract Vedantic philosophy into practical life principles - courage, character, self-reliance.

"Truth is one, sages call it by different names." He saw all religions as different paths to the same truth, based on Ramakrishna's own experiments with different paths.

விவேகானந்தர் தமிழ்நாட்டிற்கும் வந்தார். கன்னியாகுமரியில் ஒரு பாறையில் தியானம் செய்தார் (1892). அந்த இடம் இன்று விவேகானந்தர் மலை ஆகும். இந்தியாவின் மிகத் தெற்கில் அமைந்த அந்த பாறையில் தியானிக்கும்போது இந்தியாவின் ஆன்மீக பணியை மேற்கொள்ள தீர்மானித்தாக சொல்கிறார்.
The Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari is one of Tamil Nadu's most visited sites. Vivekananda also visited Madras (Chennai) and received a tremendous reception from the Tamil public. The Ramakrishna Math in Chennai (Mylapore) is active to this day.
