சக்தி என்பது பிரபஞ்சத்தின் ஆதி ஆற்றல். அனைத்து படைப்பிற்கும் மூலமான தெய்வீக பெண் சக்தி. சக்தி வழிபாடு இந்தியாவில் வேத காலத்திற்கும் முந்தையது.
Shakti (Sanskrit: शक्ति) means divine energy, power, or force. In the Shakta tradition, the ultimate reality is feminine - the Goddess (Devi) is Brahman itself. She is both the creator and the created, both transcendent and immanent. Tamil Nadu has a particularly strong Shakti tradition, seen in the Amman temples across the state.
சரஸ்வதி
கல்வி, கலை, வித்யை
The goddess of knowledge, music, and arts. Associated with white color and veena. Worshipped by students on Saraswati Puja (Navami of Navratri). She is the consort of Brahma (the creator).
லக்ஷ்மி
செல்வம், வளம், ஐஸ்வர்யம்
The goddess of wealth, beauty, and good fortune. Associated with lotus and gold. Worshipped on Diwali and Fridays. She is the consort of Vishnu and embodies divine grace (anugraha).
துர்க்கை / காளி
சக்தி, காவல், தீமை அழிப்பு
Durga is the warrior goddess who destroys evil. Kali is her fierce form representing time and transformation. Both are worshipped intensely in Tamil Nadu - every village has an Amman (mother goddess) temple. Navratri is the primary festival.
தமிழ்நாடு சக்தி வழிபாட்டிற்கு சிறப்பான இடம். ஒவ்வொரு ஊரிலும் ஓர் அம்மன் கோயில் உள்ளது. மாரியம்மன், காளியம்மன், அங்காளம்மன், பத்ரகாளி என பல வடிவங்களில் வணங்கப்படும் அம்மன், கிராமத்தை காக்கும் தெய்வமாக கருதப்படுகிறார்.
Tamil Nadu's Shakti tradition pre-dates the Aryan influence. The concept of "Kottravai" (victory goddess) in Sangam literature is one of the earliest forms of goddess worship. Later, this merged with Sanskrit traditions to create the rich Amman worship seen today. Major Shakti temples: Meenakshi Amman (Madurai), Kamakshi (Kanchipuram), Akilandeswari (Thiruvanaikaval).
